Ruff & Tuff – these are authentic, modern roots reggae vibes from Hanover. Since their founding in 2018, the band has brought together musicians from Senegal, Morocco, Mauritius, and Germany, merging their diverse influences into a unique sound. The seven members – Atlas Lion (lead singer), Sarah (singer), Sagar (rhythm guitar and vocals), Leon (bass), Max (keyboards), Mervin (drums), and Flo (lead guitar) – combine their individual talents to create a powerful, harmonious musical landscape.

Inspired by reggae legends like Dennis Brown and energized by the “Reggae Revival,” Ruff & Tuff deliver fresh energy and a contemporary sound on stage while never forgetting their roots – Jamaica, land we love.

Their repertoire ranges from meditative steppers riddims to danceable dancehall, always accompanied by socially conscious, motivating, and relatable lyrics that encourage reflection while moving the crowd.

After the initial years in the rehearsal space and a long hiatus due to Covid, 2024 marks an important milestone in the band’s history: with the release of their first single "African," Ruff & Tuff showcase what Hanover has to offer in terms of reggae. But that’s not all: more releases are already in the pipeline, including collaborations with exciting artists “from home and abroad.”
